Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a private and a certified translation?
As to content, all documents can be translated either privately or certified. The difference lies in the formalities required by certified or sworn translations. Certified translations must comply with a series of requirements for its legal filing; although its content is not necessarily legal, as it can be about any subject. Some of these requirements are: no blank spaces must be left, all pages of both the original and the translation must be over stamped, it must bear the seal and signature of a certified translator licensed by the Sworn Translators' Association and sometimes the Legalization of such Association is also required.
What is the benefit of hiring a translator?
Translators are professionals that have an academic post-graduate training embracing linguistic knowledge in their mother tongue and foreign language, translation and writing techniques, adequate bibliographic material research, and terminological research, management and selection proceedings. Furthermore, they have sufficient knowledge in the field of expertise which is constantly increased to improve their critical and analytic thinking capacity, to perfect their writing, to accomplish a natural writing style in accordance with the language used by the experts' community. Every professional translator that embarks on a project ensures that the final result will be a text transmitting the original message with the naturalness of the target culture.
Should I personally hand in the documents to be translated for the project to start?
There is no need for you to hand in the documentation to be translated; we just need you to send them to our e-mail: hello@movetranslations.com to start working. If you do not have the file in digital format, you can send us a picture or a scan. However, if you are requiring a certified translation and you need the translation attached to the original document, we should set a meeting to deliver the documents before legalizing them.
Does a simple translation mean that it is machine translated?
No, it does not. All of our translations are made by humans, by professional translators with the adequate linguistic and technical training. Simple translations are more economical because they do not go through the exhaustive correction process to which the rest of the translations are submitted, since it is a plan designed for people who require the text translated for their personal or academic interest or just to communicate and do not count with the money nor the time to upgrade the plan, and do not need to do it, because the translation will not be published.
What is the benefit of contacting the project manager?
Not all translation companies give you the possibility to directly contact the person managing your translation project and the exchange of information resulting from such lack of contact can lead to confusions negatively affecting the final product. We give you the personal mail of the person in charge of handling your translation project and coordinating all the team so that you can contact him or her whenever needed, either to know about the progress of your translation, to ask for changes, to suggest the terminology you desire to be used, or for any other matter that may arise.
What are the additional benefits of the business plan?
The business plan was designed for companies which need to frequently translate their content and have additional demands at the time of translating the terminology of the area of the company. Therefore, glossaries, translation memories and style guides which guarantee a terminological and phraseological consistency in every translation are generated. What is more, an exclusive team of translators, trained to be familiarized with the terminology of the company, is gathered together to perform all the translations. Apart from the corrections performed by our linguists, we add a quality assurance process to verify the excellence of the final product.
